Our
Environment
We consider ourselves fortunate to live in the
beautiful Peak District National Park.
In order to care for our environment we are following these
guidelines we have outlined for ourselves and would be pleased if our
guests would assist us in our aims.
Our
Natural Environment
The farm is managed sympathetically in agreement
with the Countryside Stewardship.
Our
Commitment to Energy Saving
- Thermostatic
radiator valves on all radiators.
- Conscious
of ‘Food Miles’ we support the local economy by produce being
sourced within Peak National Park or within 15 miles
- In
addition the food is generally fresher, traceable and usually uses
far less packaging
- A
number of low energy bulbs have been fitted
- Our
own supply of sustainable wood used on log fires
- Our
spring water is supplied by our own borehole
- This
in turn is fed back to the land via our septic tank forming a full
environmental circle
Please support us in our aims by:
-
Trying
not to leave any unnecessary lights on when you go out and when you
go to bed
-
During
the winter nights please close the curtains in your bedroom at dusk
as this keeps your room warmer
-
Please
turn off the TV and do not leave it on standby mode
-
Adjust
the radiator valves in the bedroom and bathroom to suit you rather
than opening the windows to cool down a room
-
Please
close the doors to retain heat
-
Please
place papers and bottles at the side of your room waste bin in order
for us to recycle
-
Support
local businesses;
help us to keep our villages
alive
