Rainow & the Area

Harrop Fold is a perfect location for anyone wishing to follow the Cheshire Literary & Film Trail, being minutes from the setting of Alan Garner's latest book, Thursbitch, and a short drive from Lyme Park, the film setting for Pride & Prejudice.  The trail is available on a map within the rooms.

Rainow and its area offer a huge selection of things to do and see from exploring the Peaks and Plains of Cheshire to admiring the natural beauty of the Peak District National Park, www.PeaksandPlains.co.uk and www.peakdistrict.org.   A footpath from the door leads to the Gritstone Trail or one of the many other footpaths that cross over Harrop Fold’s land including a Wild Flower Circular Walk from Bollington.

Bollington is 5 minutes away with its lovely canal and mills, and 10 minutes drive reaches Macclesfield with its interesting silk history, and the Anson Museum in Poynton is approximately 15 minutes. 
Within ½ hour’s drive is the Goyt Valley and
Buxton with its glorious Georgian crescent; or Tatton Park and Styal Mill are interesting visits nearby.

Around ¾ hour's drive is Alton Towers Theme Park, Staffordshire; Chatsworth House with its beautiful gardens and park, interesting farmyard, children's adventure park; Bakewell, famous for its Puddings as well as the beauty of Haddon Hall; Castleton home to the caverns and Blue John stone.

Within 1 hour’s drive  Manchester offers an abundance of theatres, museums and galleries, restaurants and shops.

Around 1¼ hour's drive away is Chester, www.visitcheshire.com the beautiful Roman walled city offering boat trips down the River Dee, a Cathedral and ‘The Rows’.
